Famed for its mention in the Anglo-Saxon Chronical, this erstwhile sleepy market town is once again in the chronicles 1300 years later as HM Revenue & Customs officers burst into the bedroom of Richard Hillgrove and his wife Lois, arresting both of them for ‘Being Knowingly Involved in the Evasion of VAT, Evasion of Income Tax, and Money Laundering’.
